My name is nick and for a long time I thought I knew what love was,but what I found out is I&#39;m a wretch.. For 15 years I thought I loved my wife. I found out that I&#39;m a part time lover and part time evil man. I have it a wall and don&#39;t know how to love her the way she needs to be loved. Its application in everyday life is interesting. I am the COO of my investment firm and I find that when I deal with employees, its one thing to boss people around, its another to completely identify with what you are asking them to do. I remember when I was a kid, my mom had a policy of making sure we finished our leftovers before we entered a new meal to teach us a lesson in wastefulness.Many times I had trouble with this because it just seemed gross to eat left overs. I remember her ordering me to eat them. It made it an even more unpleasant experience.<br />The nanny though had a different tactic. She would take the first bite of the left overs. I immediately would feel bad for having to share my burden with a complete innocent and would proceed to willingly gobble my food.<br />I think servant leadership makes for more willing participation and often generates more respect for the leader. Its a lesson I try to incorporate at home and in the office. The two people in the hospital that we specifically prayed for over the weekend were you and my Aunt Pat in Alabama. You know what happened to you and my Aunt had a stint successfully put in at a second hospital after the first hospital said that it would not work and had a poor prognosis.
